The triennial Bauma construction equipment exhibition in Munich, Germany is expected to offer the construction industry a showcase of new innovations when it opens on 8 April 2019.
The event will run until 14 April and organiser Messe München has said that next year’s event will be biggest in the event’s history with over 3,500 exhibitors and 614,000m2 of exhibition space, making it the largest trade show of any type in the world.
The drilling and ground engineering will have a dedicated outside space to allow visitors focused on the foundations and geotechnics market to more easily view the innovations on offer. There is also half a hall dedicated to tunnel construction.
Committee for European Construction Equipment president Bernd Holz, who is also managing director for Amman, said that he expected new equipment presented at the show to be more innovative than in recent years. “Developing equipment in line with the new engine emissions regulations in Europe has created less opportunities for innovation but I expect to see that change in 2019.”
Holz also said that the construction equipment boom is leading to longer lead times and forecast these to grow with increased construction output in Europe.
The UK government is also participating in Bauma with the Department for International Trade leading a trade mission to the event which is expected to involve a delegation from the Midlands, as well as involvement from the Northern Powerhouse.
