Environmental Scientifics Group is aiming to target near-shore survey work with investment in a dedicated inshore vessel.
The Cheetah Marine catamaran – MV Pulsar - has a shallow draught of less than 0.5m to enable marine surveys to be conducted in shallow inter tidal waters, rivers and lakes wholly using in-house resources.
ESG survey manager Russell Venning said that the investment in the road-transportable vessel strengthens the company’s surveying capabilities. “With a fast deployment and recovery capability, the MV Pulsar negates time delays and reduces the costs incurred during sea transit,” he said. “The catamaran’s softer ride in rough or head seas also contributes to safe working, faster data acquisition and less lost time due to bad weather, enabling us to provide cost effective survey solutions that meet the needs of our clients.”
