Fugro wins major Hong Kong ground investigation

Plans to expand Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport with a third runway have moved a step further with start of a major ground investigation project around the nearshores of the airport.

Airport Authority Hong Kong has appointed Fugro to undertake the £7.2M geotechnical and environmental ground investigation programme.

Fugro has said that the work will be completed in November this year and will be carried out using up to five specially-equipped vessels. The company has said that it has recently worked in the waters close to the airport and its familiarity with the restrictions working adjacent to one of the world’s busiest airports will stand it in good stead.
