Piling and basement construction specialist Burras says it has overcome the challenges of piling close to a site boundary through investment in a new rotary head for its Soiltek S100 piling rig. According to the contractor, the new head allows it to construct piles with their centre within 250mm of a site boundary rather than the previous 650mm.
Burras says that on a typical 9m by 9m basement development the new head allows an increase in basement area of up to 18.5% and on a larger 10m by 20m basement development it provides an increase of up to 12.5% in basement area. “This increase in rentable area with effectively no increase in construction cost will provide a very useful increase in income to developers,” said the company.
Soiltek adds that the new head has the same capabilities as the original and does not impact on overall rig functionality and similar rotary heads are now available for the full range of Soiltek piling rigs and can also be fitted to rigs manufactured by other companies.
