Oasys adds FE analysis to its slope software 

Software developer Oasys has announced the launch of a new slope program that combines two-dimensional stability assessment with finite element analysis in one package. 

According to Oasys, the program provides a quick and accurate way to identify the slip surface for factors of safety and to check improvements from reinforcements such as soil nails, rock bolts, ground anchors and geotextiles.

The program was developed to meet the demand for traditional limit equilibrium methods which incorporate calculation of pore pressure distribution and marking a significant step towards full FE analysis of slope stability.

Users need to enter simple material and strata geometry to define a section through the slope. The program then generates a finite element mesh from this information and additional data is entered to specify the required groundwater conditions and slip circles to analyse.

The new release also enables users to incorporate a range of slope reinforcement and factors of safety to Eurocode 7, and other leading international codes of practice
