Topcon enhances 3D scanning in partnership with Autodesk

Topcon has announced that it has improved the flow of data from its 3D laser scanning equipment and software to Autodesk’s reality capture software Re Cap.

The new system allows the GLS-2000 3D laser scanner to pair with Topcon Scan Master software to collect, process, edit and deliver 3D point cloud data from a laser scanner for a variety of applications. Autodesk Re Cap allows users to perform tasks such as scan conversion, editing, and viewing point cloud data — and provides integration with Autodesk’s broader portfolio of design software.

“File conversion is no longer necessary — exporting can be done straight out of scan position,” explained Topcon director of global surveying products Ray Kerwin. “Users ultimately get a more streamlined workflow, more data detail and increased access to the point cloud. With individual scan positions it is possible to generate ‘real views’ that offer a web viewing output.”
