Topcon uses VR dome to showcase geospatial technology

topcon vr dome

Topcon has demonstrated its geospatial technology, using a virtual reality dome, to explore how integrated software and hardware systems can drive productivity.

As part of the firm’s “Intersection of Infrastructure and Technology” campaign aimed at supporting the industry to evolve working methods and embrace new technology, a 4m virtual reality dome was used, which put visitors inside the data of real life projects.

The immersive point cloud workspace used Topcon Magnet Collage software to show datasets from both infrastructure and structural construction projects.

Magnet Collage enables interpretation of both geo-referenced images and point clouds from any source - whether it is mobile, static, aerial, from either lidar or via photogrammetric methods, or both.
