A428 upgrade ground investigation set to start this year

black cat roundabout

Highways England has confirmed that ground investigation work for the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet upgrade will get underway later this year.

The news follows on from announcement that the project near St Neots in Cambridgeshire was to be delayed to avoid crossover with construction work on the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme.

Highways England has said that, subject to the development consent order, it hopes that construction to upgrade the single carriageway to dual carriageway will start on the scheme in 2021 or 2022 with the work completed by 2030.

Preferred route announcement is planned for later this year and the ground investigation work is key to this announcement.
