Aarsleff completes raked piles on Icelandic project

Aarsleff Ground Engineering has completed a project in Reykjavik driving vertical and raked piles for a new residential development.

In order to drive the precast piles, Aarsleff transported one of its Junttan PMx22 rigs from the UK.

During the nine days on site, a total of 267No. piles of 270mm square section were driven, with a number of piles raked at 10°.

Aarsleff Ground Engineering has completed a project in Reykjavik driving vertical and raked piles for a new residential development.

Although not a common technique in the UK, raking piles can be used in combination with vertical piles to provide stiffness against lateral forces, commonly associated with bridge abutments.
