Aarsleff wins major Northumberland grouting deal

Aarsleff Ground Engineering has been awarded large-scale mine stabilization project for a new retail park being developed in Shiremoor, Northumberland for Northumberland Estates.

Aarsleff is working for main contractor Rainton Construction to drill and grout shallow mine workings at the site close to the former colliery village in North Tyneside.

During the contract, Aarsleff will treat more than 5,500m2 of ground around the building footprints and a perimeter extension zone to minimize the potential for future ground movement.

Aarsleff has estimated that it will drill 530 injection holes and treat the area with around 2,700t of grout during the work. The work includes capping a known mine shaft.
