Aces wins geotechnical contract for Abu Dhabi development

Aces has been awarded the geotechnical investigation for the Yas South Development Project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Yas South will cover a total area of 1M.m2, combining residential areas, an integrated destination resort, a multi-purpose arena, and retail and entertainment destinations along a waterfront promenade.

The scope of Aces’ works includes drilling more than 130 onshore and 27 offshore boreholes with depths ranging from 15 to 60m for the onshore boreholes and 10 to 20m for the offshore boreholes.

In addition, field tests will be conducted including cone penetration tests (CPT), falling head permeability, lagoon packer, pressuremeter, plate load, field California bearing ratio (CBR), and thermal resistivity tests.

Geophysical logging including down-hole seismic and electrical resistivity tests (ERT) will also be carried out.

Yas South will be developed in seven phases with expected completion by 2031. The first phase will be delivered in 2019.
