Work on driving the Chiltern Tunnel on HS2 has taken a step forward with HS2’s appointment of Amey to construct essential electrical infrastructure for the work.
The project involves design, installation and construction of two new temporary substations to support the delivery of the Chiltern Tunnel south portal.
The first will connect to the Scottish and Southern Electricity Network power grid to transform voltage levels from 132kV to 33kV and the second will lower it to 11kV to power tunnelling equipment that will drive the Chiltern Tunnel.
