Contracts for design development to deliver cost savings on Crossrail 2 are expected to be awarded to Arup and Mott MacDonald following a framework procurement process.
“We intend to appoint Mott Macdonald and Arup to work with us to further develop the designs for Crossrail 2,” said Transport for London’s Crossrail 2 managing director Michèle Dix.
“Their first task will be to work with us to look for potential savings in the design of Crossrail 2 to ensure best value for money. Subject to approval from the secretary of state for transport of the strategic outline business case, they will work with us on developing the design further following the next public consultation.”
The contracts procured under the framework process, which started in January, covers tunnel and systems design, facilities design south and facilities design north.
According to TfL, the value of the contracts will depend on the successful progression of the project but £3M has been allocated for the initial value engineering task.
