Assembly of Tideway TBMs nears completion

Tideway has said that assembly work on its first two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is nearing completion with key components on Millicent and Ursula now in place.

“It is exciting to have the cutterheads now attached, bringing the assembly of the TBMs nearer to completion,” said Tideway delivery manager Chris Darton.

“We’re now focused on getting them finished and gearing up for the start of tunnelling later in the year.”

Millicent will drive a 5km tunnel from Kirtling Street to Carnwath Road in Fulham, while Ursula will drive a 7.6km tunnel from Kirtling Street to Chambers Wharf in Bermondsey.
