Atkins secures St Brieuc windfarm work

Atkins has announced that it has been appointed to deliver the front end engineering design and detailed design of wind turbine jacket substructures for St Brieuc Offshore Windfarm, located off the coast of northern France.

The scope of the work for Ailes Marines, which is a consortium of Iberdrola, Renewable Energy Systems and Caisse des dépôts, involves the design of foundation jackets for 62 8MW turbines.

Atkins has said that it will use its geotechnical expertise to mitigate what has been described as challenging ground conditions.

Ground investigation work, lasting three months, for the windfarm was undertaken in 2017 by Fugro.

The 496MW windfarm is scheduled to become operational in 2023.
