Faster model update and easier presentation of complex geological models are promised by the latest update to Autodesk’s Geotechnical Module.
The Geotechnical Module is a free add-on to Auto CAD Civil 3D and is licensed to Autodesk by ground engineering software developer Keynetix.
The module is a cut down version of Keynetix’s Holebase SI Extension and can connect Holebase SI to give CAD and BIM teams instant access to centrally-held geotechnical data. It can also be used as a standalone product.
“A major improvement to the module means, for the first time, users can update existing borehole information,” said Keynetix technical director Gary Morin. “Boreholes can simply be removed and the updated data imported, which is automatically included in models and profiles.
“There are also a number of new features to allow users to customise drawings and profiles. Geological strips can be moved to avoid them overlapping when boreholes are close together; users can create their own geological legend keys and they can re-order strata, plus we have made a number of improvements to the profile generation tools.”
