Autumn date set for Stromeferry rock face work

Highland Council has said that the next phase of work to the rock face above the A890 Stromeferry Bypass is set to start on 3 September.

The work will focus on a 72m section to the west of the existing avalanche shelter.

The council has described the 12 week programme of work as “essential” but no technical details about the work or the contractor who will deliver it have yet been released.

The council has said that the route will be closed to vehicles weighing over 7.5t during the work but lighter vehicles will be able to use a diversion route controlled by traffic lights and convoy vehicles during the day when no trains are scheduled.
