Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has awarded a SGD$795M (£443M) design and construct contract to Bachy Soletanche Singapore and Penta-Ocean Construction for construction a section of the North-South Corridor tunnel.
The 1km tunnel section is part of the 21.5km North-South Corridor tunnel which is Singapore’s first integrated transport corridor combining bus lanes and pedestrian and cycling routes.
The 1km tunnel section awarded under this latest contract between Suffolk Walk and Novena Rise will feature an underground pedestrian network, pedestrian overhead bridges, bus stops, sheltered walkways and cycling paths.
The new network, which will connect the East Coast Parkway with northern parts of Singapore is expected to be completed by 2023. Bachy Soletanche Singapore and Penta-Ocean Construction are expected to start work on the contract in early 2019.
