Bahrain marina ground engineering contract awarded

Abu Dhabi-based ground engineering specialist NSCC International has announced that it has been awarded the early works package for the Dilmunia Grand Canal and Marina by developer Ithmaar Development Company.

The Grand Canal will cut through the entire stretch of the Dilmunia – a 125ha man-made island off the coast of Muharraq - in a semi-circular route, making it Bahrain’s largest man-made water body and calls for major ground engineering input.

Under the US$4.5M (£3.5M) deal, NSCC is undertaking soil improvement, earthmoving and contiguous pile works for the 1.7km long canal, which will space width of between 15m and 35m.

Work has already started on site and it set for completion by mid-March.
