Bauer completes geotechnical work at former Munich airport site

Construction of new headquarters for Brainlab, a medical equipment manufacturer, at the former Munich-Riem Airport site is progressing following completion of the geotechnical phase of work.

At the foot of the former airport tower, which is now a registered historic landmark, Bauer has constructed a 1,200m2 cut-off wall using the mixed-in-place method and a 6,500m2 sheet pile wall.

In addition, around 2,800 linear metres of anchors have been installed and approximately 100 uplift piles have been constructed. The project also included earthworks and the removal of contaminated soil.

Construction at the site is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
