Six months into its work on the ground engineering for Phase 3 of Line 3 on the Cairo metro, Bauer Egypt has reported that work is on target for the planned April 2019 completion date.
Line 3 will eventually connect Imbaba with the Cairo International Airport and the third phase is the final section to begin construction.
Bauer is undertaking 250,000 m² of diaphragm wall construction to depths of up to 83m and about 180,000 m³ of cut off wall construction for the current phase of work.
Bauer started on the scheme in 2017 but has previously worked on other phases of the project which started in 2008.
Four BC 40 trench cutters and one BC 30 cutter unit mounted on BauerMC 128 and MC 96 duty-cycle cranes are being used for the scheme. The cut off wall element will be undertaken using five BG 28 drilling rigs with extended masts for drilling to 83m.
The Phase 3 section is due to be completed in 2024.
