Bauer wins cut-off wall contract in India

Bauer, in joint venture with L&T GeoStructure, has been awarded the cut-off wall contract for the Polavaram dam in India.

The Polavaram dam, which will be constructed in the east of the country in the state of Andhra Pradesh, will provide water and electric power supply for the region.

The specialist foundation work includes the creation of 68,000m2 of cut-off wall with a length of 1.5km down to a depth of 110m.

Bauer will use two duty-cycle cranes; MC 96 with a grab and MC 128 with a BC 40 trench cutter.

Work on the €60M (£44M) project is set to begin in November with the mobilisation of the construction site and should be finished by the end of 2017.
