Bauer Technologies has announced that it is working on the foundations contract for Sirius Mineral’s £2.2bn polyhalite mine development in North Yorkshire.
Under the deal, Bauer will construct five circular diaphragm wall shafts to depths of between 60m and 120m.
Sirius has already reported that the scope of the diaphragm wall work has been increased but this has allowed a series of roadways at 45m depth and related grouting to be removed from the programme.
”Activity levels at the Woodsmith Mine continue to increase every month and now step up significantly as we commence diaphragm walling activities,” said Sirius managing director and CEO Chris Fraser
Bauer has brought in three BC40 cutter units to deliver the work on what will become one of Britain’s most significant mines, producing polyhalite, a high value multi-nutrient organic fertiliser.
“This is an exciting project,” said Bauer Technologies managing director Martin Blower. “We are delighted that Sirius has chosen us to deliver these project critical shafts.”
