Soilmec has announced that it will be launching a new heavy duty crawler crane for the foundations market at this year’s Bauma construction equipment exhibition in Munich, Germany this April.
The SC-120 HD, which replaced the SC-120 model, will be exhibited with a hydraulic rotary SA-40 – the biggest offered by Soilmec – to underline the large diameter bored piling capability of the crane.
According to Soilmec, the new crane offers better performance than the previous model following integration of a Cat C18 engine, use of closed circuit pumps and development of an advance DMS control system.
Despite the heavy duty aim of the new rig, the transport weight is under 48t and has a transport width of just 3.5m.
Soilmec has said that a SA-40 equipped SC-120 HD has been tested on site and has successfully installed 3m diameter piles to a depth of 80m but could potentially construct piles of up to 4m diameter to a depth of 106m.
The SC-120 HD ca also be configured with a diaphragm wall grab, casing oscillator, dynamic soil compaction, clamshell, or dragline.
