Last year’s winners of the event was a joint venture of Volker Stevin, Boskalis Westminster and Atkins together with Northumberland County Council and Keller for the Crag End Landslip stabilisation project in Rothbury, Northumberland.

The annual competition held in memory of Ken Fleming is open to any geotechnical project that has been substantially completed in the two years before the awards event on 6 December 2017.

The event aims to recognise excellence in the practical application of geotechnical design and construction and entrants stand to win a £1,000 prize donated by Fleming’s former employer Cementation Skanska Foundations.

The award places emphasis on teamwork across different disciplines involved in the project and presentations usually involve the client, main contractor, consulting engineers and specialist contractors. Consideration is also given to the level of innovation demonstrated.

Full details of the competition, instructions for entry and an application form can be downloaded from the news section of the BGA website.
