Cardiff completion for Aarsleff piling work

Aarsleff has announced that it has successfully completed piling works for a new mixed used development in Cardiff city centre.

The most recent piling work was for a multi storey car park on the 3.2ha Capital Quarter scheme, which includes offices, hotels, student housing, residential and education buildings.

Aarsleff installed 207 300mm section precast concrete piles to depths of up to 12m and 14 339mm diameter tubular steel piles to depths of up to 15m.

Work for the car park is the latest in several phases of piling work undertaken by Aarsleff at the site, which has seen the company install 685 precast piles for the scheme for developer JR Smart.

Previous work at the site meant that Aarsleff was aware of a 2m thick band of hard sand and gravel that runs across the site and specified use of its Junttan PM20 rig to ensure it could overcome the ground conditions.
