Construction guidance organisation Ciria has announced plans to build on its existing guidance for use of geotextiles as engineered solutions and is looking for firms to collaborate on the project.
The Engineering with geotextile guidance will aim to build on the existing SP123 Soil reinforcement with geotextiles document.
According to Ciria, there have been considerable advances in the application of geotextiles as a viable solution since the SP123 guidance was published in 1996.
Ciria has said that both economic and technical benefits can be achieved using geotextiles as engineered solutions and the new guidance will help support further development. The update will look at the latest design and construction methods and also cover slope stability, retaining walls, embankments and working platforms.
