Concrete foundations installed for Scottish wind farm

The concrete foundations have been installed for a new wind farm located east of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Almost 12,000m3 of ready-mixed concrete was supplied by Hope Construction Materials for the Aikengall II Community Wind Farm.

Hope’s Dunbar and Dalkieth readymix plants supplied the concrete using 17 mixer trucks over a two-month period.

When complete, the wind farm will include 19 new wind turbines, each 145m tall.

Barr Construction, part of the Barr Aggregates Group and Gael Force Renewables, is expected to complete the construction programme by August 2016.

The wind farm will generate 68.4MW of energy, supplying electricity to more than 42,000 homes, and displacing around 77,000t of carbon dioxide a year.
