Cooling Prize contenders should note that the wrong submission date was recently published in GE and papers must be submitted by 2 January 2018, not 24 January as previously stated.
The Cooling Prize is the premier event for up and coming young geotechnical engineers. Entrants write a paper on any topic dealing with the engineering behaviour of the ground, whether it be a description of an industrial design or construction project, development of a new piece of equipment or research.
The aim of the competition is to encourage young engineers to write their first technical paper, and equal merit will be given to high quality industrial experience as to state-of-the-art research. The 49th Cooling Prize Competition will be held on 28 February 2018 at an event hosted by the North West Geotechnical Group and ICE North West in Manchester.
The competition is also open to engineers aged 33 on 31 December 2018.
Full details of the rules, including details of assessment criteria and how to enter are available on the BGA website.
