Council reports further ground movement in Ystalyfera

Neath Port Talbot Council has said that engineers carrying out routine monitoring inspections of the Pantteg landslide in Ystalyfera have identified ground movement close to Pantteg Chapel in the village centre.

The new landslide is within the area previously identified by the council’s consultant Earth Science Partnership as being an area at high risk of further failures.

The steep embankment failed on Friday but debris did not bloack the road. The material will be removed as part of planned enhancement works to a retaining bund positioned opposite the chapel which is scheduled to start early next month.
