CPB wins Australian iron ore earthworks contract

BHP Iron Ore has appointed CPB Contractors to undertake bulk earthworks, concrete and underground services work for its South Flank project in its Area C mine in the Pilbara region, Western Australia.

Work on the US$260M (£196M) contract is expected to start in July and be completed in September 2020.

The South Flank development is one component of BHP’s strategy to increase the mining, processing and out-loading capacity of the Area C mine. As part of the South Flank Project, CPB Contractors will undertake works in and around the existing rail loop, including earthworks and concrete works to support the expansion and duplication of the existing rail loop and stockyard; earthworks and concrete works for the development of a new ore processing plant and train load-out facilities; and underground services, including electrical and water services.
