Crown Estates has announced that it has published 11.5TB of new offshore data on its Marine Data Exchange.
The data includes information gathered by surveys and technical studies from the former Celtic Array offshore wind project off the coast of Anglesey in Wales and from the First Flight Wind offshore wind project off the coast of County Down, Northern Ireland.
According to Crown Estates, the data includes extensive physical environmental detail, such as geotechnical and geophysical data and sediment sampling, as well as navigation and environmental information.
“We are harnessing the power of open data to help build a picture of this natural resource for different marine users,” said Crown Estates head of offshore wind Huub den Rooijen. “By making information easily available through the Marine Data Exchange we can help stimulate research, support academia and contribute towards the sustainable development of the seabed to unlock value over the long term.”
