Dover contract for ITM Monitoring

ITM Monitoring has been appointed by Dover Harbour Board to develop a bespoke automated continuous monitoring system for a historic pier within the busy port.

Under the deal, the system will be used to track the verticality of the seaward side of the Prince of Wales Pier, which was opened in 1902 following preliminary designs undertaken by ICE president Sir John Goode in 1892.

ITM will place sensors on the structure that will log data that will be posted to web-based data visualisation software that allows for completely autonomous, remote monitoring. ITM has said that this will enable the client to view the reaction of the of the pier structure due to tidal influence and to assess whether there are any long term movement trends.
