Fire service seeks partner for £1M remediation deal in Berkshire

Royal Berkshire Fire Authority has started an early contractor involvement process to find a partner to remediate land in Theale where it hopes to build a new fire station.

The organisation is inviting potential bidders to submit ideas for the work “to add value to the project in advance of the competitive bidding process” in addition to managing the contamination issues on site.

Documents published in the Official Journal of the European Union, suggest that the remediation work could be worth around £1M with the contract let under a fixed price to mitigate risk to the fire service.

The dialogue process is looking for contractors to suggest other work that is needed to enable the work to be let under a fixed price and propose ground improvement techniques that could be suitable. The organisation is also seeking proposals for the remediation work to be linked to the contract to construct the £5.4M new fire station.

Proposals should be submitted to the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority by 8 November 2018.
