The installation of five steel-jacket foundations for the first US offshore wind farm has been completed.
Crews at Deepwater Wind’s Block Island Wind Farm site, located three miles off the Block Island coast, have now started installation of 17m-tall deck platforms on top of each of the foundations.
This phase of work is expected to be complete by the end of this month.
Construction at the site will then resume in spring 2016. The subsequent erection of the five Alstom Haliade 6MW offshore wind turbines is scheduled for next summer.
The project is expected to be completed by Q4 2016.
