Foundations testing completed at Triton Knoll wind farm

Triton Knoll wind farm developer Innogy has said that the project has completed a key phase of offshore ground investigation ahead of monopile installation next year.

Innogy reports that Fugro used its state-of-the-art geotechnical drill vessel Fugro Scout ro test foundation locations for the 90 turbines at the site located 32km off the east coast.

The investigation will provide detailed information on seafloor and sub seafloor to support the design of the 860MW wind farm’s monopile foundations by Atkins on behalf of lead foundations contractor Smulders Sif Steel Foundations.

Fugro undertook boreholes to depths of up to 40m and undertook cone penetration tests (CPT), seismic CPT and wireline logging.
