Fugro starts Dutch offshore ground investigation

Fugro has announced that it has started work on preliminary site investigations for the Hollandse Kust (zuid) Wind Farm Zone in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

The work for the planned 350MW wind farm has been commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs ahead of the tender process for construction of the facility which is expected to be on stream by 2018.

The contract includes geophysical surveys undertaken from purpose-built vessels to map the seabed characteristics and sub-surface soil conditions.

“This new contract award follows the successful series of site investigations Fugro completed in 2015 at the Borssele wind area, off the Zeeland coast,” said Fugro Survey commercial manager Ivar de Josselin de Jong.

The work is expected to be completed within four weeks.
