Furgo has been appointed to undertake geotechnical investigation work for Ørsted for two large scale offshore wind farms in the US.

fugro explorer

The Fugro Explorer will be used to undertake the work on site

The ground investigation work will provide design data for the Bay State Wind project located 20km off the Massachusetts coast and Ocean Wind located 16km off the New Jersey coast.

The marine site characterisation at both sites involves highly specialised sampling and in situ testing.

For laboratory testing and reporting on the projects, Furgo will draw on its expertise in the US, as well as those in the UK and the Netherlands.

The award of the on site ground investigation follows on from Fugro’s undertaking of geoconsulting desktop studies and geotechnical ground truthing for Ørsted for the schemes.

Work on site will start imminently and take around three months to complete.
