Data acquired during a hydrocarbon seep survey, heat flow and geochemical coring campaign in Newfoundland’s Orphan Basin has created a new market for Fugro and its partner Amplified Geochemical Imaging (AGI).
The comprehensive data package is being licensed from both Fugro and AGI and includes multibeam echo sounder data, shipboard geochemical screening analyses and shore-based screening and advanced geochemical analyses.
According to Fugro, the survey covering an area of 11,070km2 and geochemical datasets created by it suggest the presence of thermogenic hydrocarbons. Fugro has said that additional investigations to establish environmental baselines and evaluate seafloor geohazards will be used during the upcoming licensing process by exploration and production companies and throughout the life of the new hydrocarbon field.
The data was developed in joint venture with Nalcor Energy.
