Geological study launched for Canadian shale gas sites

A joint geological study for shale gas development is being undertaken in the Horn River, Liard and Cordova areas in British Columbia, Canada.

Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation, Inpex, Inpex Gas British Columbia and Nexen Energy have entered into an agreement to evaluate geological characteristics at the sites.

The study includes detailed geological evaluation and analysis of the properties of rock samples extracted from shale reservoirs marked for development.

The investigation is expected to be complete in approximately 12 months.
