Geotechnical deal for US wind farm awarded

Ørsted (formerly Dong Energy) has appointed Aqualis Offshore to deliver geotechnical site investigation supervision services for its Ocean Wind offshore wind farm off the coast of New Jersey, US.

The agreement will also see Aqualis provide similar geotechnical services for the 2,000MW Bay State wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts, which Ørsted is jointly developing with Eversource.

The main scope of work is to provide supervision services for the geotechnical campaign and thereby support the further development of the site.

“We have supported numerous Ørsted offshore wind farm projects in Europe, but this is our first project win in US waters,” said managing director of Aqualis’ sister company Offshore Wind Consultants Ian Bonnon. “Reconnaissance level site survey has been carried out during summer of 2017, and we will now support the geotechnical investigation on site.”
