Geotechnical investigation begins for Lake Erie offshore wind farm

Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LeedCo) has started the geotechnical investigation for the Icebreaker offshore wind farm project.

The geotechnical works are being undertaken on the soils beneath Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes of North America, where LeedCo plans to install six foundations for the offshore wind farm.

The company will test the soil and collect samples at each of the six locations for the planned foundations.

The investigation will build on the initial geotechnical works completed in 2013 at the site.

The US$120M (£77.5M) project is expected to be complete by 2018.
