Grand Paris Express prepares for second TBM launch

Société du Grand Paris has said that work to bring the second Grand Paris Express tunnel boring machine (TBM) to site will start next week.

The parts for the Herrenknecht TBM will be delivered to the Robespierre shaft site in Bagneux on Line 15 in several overnight shipments starting from 10 September.

The TBM will be assembled on site and is expected to start tunnelling in January 2019 and will drive the tunnel to la gare Fort d’Issy Vanves – Clamart where it is scheduled to arrive in spring 2020.

The tunnel depth will vary from 15m to 55m below ground level and the TBM is expected to bore the tunnel at a rate of 10m to 15m per day once the launch is complete.
