Groundforce appoints new piling operations director

Groundforce has appointed James Burchell as its new operations director for its piling and trenchless technology businesses.

Appointed as operations director for Piletec and Mr Cropper piling businesses, and U Mole, Groundforce’s trenchless technology business, Burchell was appointed following the retirement of Bill Gorton.

Burchell, who has been with the company for more than 20 years, was most recently commercial manager for major projects at Groundforce Shorco, and joined the business as a yard labourer/driver, delivering shoring equipment.

Moved from sales to an operational role in 2012 as project manager for Groundforce, Burchell was responsible for a feasibility study which led to the formation of Groundforce Training Services.

Commenting on his new appointment Burchell said: “Following in Bill’s footsteps, I’m looking forward to identifying and working up the many opportunities that exist in the piling sector.

“Our strategy will include investment in all three business, to grow our portfolio of products to complement our existing fleet, and introduce new equipment which not only makes using it safer but also makes the end users more productive. Our aim is to give customers choice by offering a range of products and solutions that meet their requirements, together with providing the highest levels of service.

“We will push the boundaries on innovation and new ideas. Investing in and supporting our staff will always be a priority to ensure we continue to attract the best people.

“We currently operate in the UK and Ireland from six locations – Glasgow, Wigan, Derby, Harlow, Northfleet and Port Liaos – but we are always looking to increase our nationwide locations to help serve our customers.”
