Hydrock secures geoenvironmental work on Manchester Metrolink

Hydrock has been appointed to provide geoenvironmental services during delivery of the £350M Metrolink extension from Manchester to Trafford Park.

Hydrock will be working for M Pact-Thales, which is a joint venture of Laing O’Rourke, Volker Rail and Thales, whioch began work on the scheme in early 2017.

The new 5.5km line, which is expected to open in 2020, will link the existing tram stop at Pomona with the Intu Trafford Centre.

Hydrock has said that its work will comprise contaminated land risk assessment and materials management support to Laing O’Rourke, including production of a remediation strategy, materials management plan and asbestos management plan, controlled waters risk assessment, and liaison with the regulators.
