Former Institute of Civil Engineers president and head of Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), Lord Robert Mair has been elected to the US National Academy of Engineering.
The academy elected Mair for contributions to underground construction and smart infrastructure and for leadership in government, engineering practice, research, and education.
It announced the news last week and said being elected is “among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer”.
Mair will be invited to a ceremony at the academy’s annual meeting in Washington in October to be formally inducted.
