Macao bridge reclamation works reaches major milestone

Reclamation works for the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge are now underway after completion of a major ground improvement project by Trevi.

Soft marine muds called for the installation of 450 jet grouted columns to depths of up to 35m in order for land reclamation to be undertaken.

Trevi installed the columns, which vary in diameter from 1.2m to 3m, in 10 weeks using six PSM20 rigs in order to construct up to eight jet grout columns each day.

Two barges were equipped with 14 silos, holding 600t of cement, and four mixing plants in order to meet the 1,200m3 demanded each day by the work. Up to four 1,200t capacity barges were used to bring cement to the work site in order to keep the work on track.
