Major earthworks progress on A19 Coast Road triple decker junction

Highways England has said that Lagan and Sisk’s work on constructing the WSP-designed three level junction between the A19 and A1058 in North Shields is now 75% complete.

According to Highways England, the work is on track to complete by March next year with key milestones achieved on the project.

The roads authority has said that microtunnelling for the drainage system has now been complete and 150,000t of earthworks have been undertaken with material stockpiled for use on the forthcoming Testos junction scheme.

Highways England has also said that sheet piling for the underpass has also been removed after excavation using top down techniques started in January.
