Major rock fall closes "Broadchurch" beach in Dorset

Dorset County Council has reported that it has closed a beach at West Bay following a 1000t rock fall at East Cliff, which featured in the TV series Broadchurch and opening sequences of the Rise and Fall of Reginald Perin.

The coast path has been closed following the rock fall

The rock fall, which happened on Tuesday, has seen the coastal path between West Bay and Burton Freshwater cordoned off as well the beach below closed becuse of dangerous overhangs from the cliff above.

A spokesman for Dorset County Council said: “There’s been a large rock fall of approximately 1,000t at East Cliff West Bay. The police and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency have closed the coastal path between West Bay and Freshwater. The beach is also closed, and there are dangerous overhangs from top of cliff. The public are advised to stay away.”
