Network Rail has published tender documents for the sections of Crossrail that will run on Network Rail routes.
Documents published in the Official Journal of the European Union suggest that the design and consents contract for the on network sections (ONS) of the new rail route has a value of up to £60M, with further work of up to £50M for the delivery phase.
The central underground section of the project will be led by Transport for London but Network Rail is leading the development of the ONS to the south west and north east of London.
According to the documents, station and alignment options are being developed and assessed with a view to establishing a preferred scheme by late summer 2015 with consultations later this year.
The successful bidder for the work will assist Network Rail in gaining consent for the project via a hybrid bill or a development consent order, as well as undertaking design work.
Construction of the route is expected to start in the early 2020s.
